Do you have an opinion on the best beginner WoL civs? It might be useful to think about for introducing new people to the mod.

I would think about Spain, which is the basic civ in the Vanilla game. Or others like France, which does not have some special bonuses in the gameplay.

Spain is good for beginners, but emphasises too much on shipments, plus they are quite weak late game, as their Royal Guard units are primitive. I consider a beginner civ one that one can play and feel secure

Sorry, I saw that it was already posted, I was asking what you thought the best beginner civs that are new in WotTA/WoL are, so that players who are already familiar with Vanilla/TWC/TAD civs can easily get into WoL.

Yes, if it weren't for DOTN there would be no WoL.

Ahhh, then I would go with USA (even tough will die fast in 1.07 eventually xD) or Brasil/Argentina which are pretty straight forward.

I would think Brazil and USA are the ones. Mostly because I think of Livestock economy as an extra complexity in gameplay, so I would not support Argentina. Kinda Paraguay is also a solid candidate

Beginner civs:
Excellent for beginners, straight forward and teach new players.
Runner-up: China
Mainly because of banner armies teaching new players to use multiple types of units. Might be gimmicky at first, but there is method in there. The most common noob mistake is spamming just one unit(I remember spamming Cuirassiers as a kid). Banner Armies help with that. Otherwise, their economy and other stuff are straightforward, the only problem might be dealing with expensive units and gimmicky housing.
Best: France.
Straightforward, solid economy, simple playstyle, if you are new to WoL or AoE3 in general, go French. They teach the best, whilst also being reliable. Others have some nuicances or gimmicks that can make things tricky, like with the Russian batches or Ottoman settler production. France has none. It is a simple late game beast.

These are my two beginner civs

Even Brazil is a bit hard. I think there's no easy LA civ for a starter. Of them all, the easiest to handle is PY, in my opinion.

Yeah, but Paraguay has not the basic gameplay due to the factories and engineers, perhaps Mexico is the one with a more normal gameplay for beginners eventough the presidio.

Normal Gameplay doesn't means easy. I had a very hard time handling Mexico as I was not an experienced player when I discovered WotTA Gamma. Their military just does not work as a normal one, forcing you to go defensive, and with Mexico that would be neither easy for a beginner.

The easiest would be Chile and Argentina, I guess.

Could you believe my brain just deleted the existence of Chile civ when I posted ? Indeed, that would be a good candidate

Why Brazil not? Their economy just develops in a very classic and micromanaging-less way if you play strait forward. They military is surely weak, but you just need to survive strong and boom well, a very firsts-steps strategy.
